World’s Leading RIT Game Design Programs

The Rochester Institute of Technology offers some of the best game design and development programs for budding game developers, according to the Princeton Review’s new international rankings.

RIT’s game design and development program was ranked fourth at the undergraduate level and fifth at the graduate level on the 2021 list. fifth and 12th place. The program is hosted at the School of Interactive Games and Media at Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences.

The Princeton Review chose schools based on its 2020 survey of 150 institutions in the United States, Canada, and overseas that offer game design courses, majors, or degree programs. The 50-question survey collected information on schools’ game design programs in four areas: academics, faculty, technology, and career prospects.

Game design students work with RIT’s MAGIC Center, a not-for-profit research and development lab and for-profit production studio that helps bring digital media creations up to market and commercialization standards.

RIT’s Bachelor of Science in Game Design and Development provides undergraduate computer science education on a large scale while exposing students to the breadth of game design and development processes. Students are required to take courses in the liberal arts, social sciences, and laboratory sciences.

Students pursuing an MA in Game Design and Development at RIT focus on the technical roots of the disciplines of Computer Science and Information Science, while simultaneously covering the breadth of the development landscape by getting involved in topics such as computer graphics, game engines, interactive storytelling, and gaming. world design. The diploma ends with a synthesis project in which students create their own games.
