University of Utah game design program ranked in top 10

SALT LAKE CITY — The University of Utah’s Entertainment Arts and Engineering program is ranked among the top 10 game design programs in North America.

Ranking results

The Princeton Review’s ranking places the U’s program in fifth place for graduate programs and seventh in undergraduate schools.

The university said it has moved up a spot in every ranking since last year.

“Moving up the undergraduate and graduate rankings in the same year is an impressive achievement that stems from the hard work of our outstanding students, staff and faculty,” said Michael Young, Professor at the U of U School of Computing and Director of EAE.

The ranking was determined by a survey of 150 schools offering game design programs. The Princeton Review surveyed schools in the United States, Canada and other countries abroad.

The Princeton Review looked at the schools’ lab facilities, faculty credentials, and career outcomes to determine the rankings.

The best school with an undergraduate program in game design was the University of Southern California. The best school with a graduate program was the University of Central Florida

The U Game Design Program

The university said its program teaches students “all aspects of video game production.” This includes things from designing a video game to marketing.

The school offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in the game design program, as well as the opportunity to specialize in games. The program also collaborates with the David Eccles School of Business. The school offers a dual degree for students looking to get into video game-focused businesses.
