Push Comes to Shovel Creator Discusses Snow Plowing and Indie Game Development
At a time when seemingly mundane tasks have become fun and relaxing video game experiences, the team at Mantra Games seeks to put their stamp on this gaming phenomenon. Push Comes to Shovel is a game about shoveling snow and become the Blizzard’s assistant in the process. To find out more, we spoke with Shane Whitehouse of Mantra Games.
Whitehouse talks about what it’s like to shovel snow in Push Comes to Shovel, using the Unity engine to create a game about clearing space in the middle of a blizzard. He also talks about the game’s other mechanics, including driving vehicles, using various tools, and even dealing with traffic and annoying pedestrians. Whitehouse also talks about working in other areas of pop culture, lining up an extensive TV and film resume, and what helped get him started making video games.
Whitehouse is working on some of Push Comes to Shovel’s flaws, so there’s no particular timeline for its release. It’s coming soon to PC via Steam. For more interviews like this, be sure to check out Shacknews and GamerHubTV on YouTube.
