Bloomfield College Game Design Program Scores Top Nationally and in New Jersey

The Princeton Review named Bloomfield College as one of the best undergraduate schools for game design in its 12th annual ranking, “The 50 Best Undergraduate Schools for Game Design for 2021”. Bloomfield College is ranked highest in New Jersey and # 34 nationally among undergraduate schools offering game design programs.

“Bloomfield College’s game design program has received national and state recognition over the past three years,” said GJ Lee, assistant professor and game development coordinator. “We have a dedicated community of inspiring faculty and staff who strengthen our program and create opportunities for our students. The Princeton Review selected schools based on an analysis of over 40 survey data points captured in its 2020 survey of administrators at 150 institutions in the United States and abroad that offer design courses. games, majors or degree programs. The survey collected information on schools’ game design programs in four areas: academics, faculty, technology, and career prospects.

Bloomfield College’s Bachelor of Arts in Game Design within the Creative Arts and Technology Division is a practice-oriented program focused on core principles, concepts, methodologies, and skills that are reinforced through the creation of hands-on projects. Many courses also involve students working on collaborative team projects that mimic real game development environments. Theoretical knowledge and practical methods converge within these environments to provide students with the experience they need to truly understand and overcome the complexities involved in making games.

The Princeton Review developed its Top Schools for Game Design project in 2009 with assistance from a national advisory board that helped design the project’s survey and ranking list methodology. Board members included administrators and professors from respected game design programs, as well as professionals from some of the top game companies. The Princeton Review is also known for its annual ranking of colleges, business schools, and law schools in dozens of categories.
