Assistant Professor in Game Design / Game Studies job with Georgia Tech
The Georgia Institute of Technology School of Literature, Media and Communication (LMC) invites applicants to fill tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor in the field of digital media with an emphasis on design of games and game studies, effective August 2022. We particularly welcome applications from applicants whose work relates to broad social justice issues.
We are looking for an interdisciplinary practitioner and theorist who pursues research focused on digital games and who can teach Game Design and Game Studies at the undergraduate, masters and doctoral levels. As a humanist program within a technological university, we are looking for candidates with an active practice of game creation as part of a theoretical research program. In addition to play studies, relevant research areas include, but are not limited to, media studies, critical cultural studies, black media studies, feminist studies, queer and trans studies, STEM education. / STEAM, experimental media, social and environmental justice. The successful candidate will have access to lab / studio space and other resources within our shared research space and will join other colleagues in defining the next phase of our multi-level educational program, which also includes students preparing for a career in the gaming industry. such as those pursuing cultural approaches to games as a form of media.
The teaching load is two courses per semester, comprising courses in Game Design as Cultural Practice, Interaction Design, Experimental Media, and Project Studios.
