2021 Game Development World Championship Awards Arrive in March
In his attempt to attend to the preparations and planning of the non-Olympic sports federations participating in the upcoming Asian Games, the President of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), Dr. Narinder Dhruv Batra called and met with the officials of 9 sports federations, including Esports Federation of India (ESFI), at Olympic Bhawan on February 14, 2022.
The Asian Electronic Sports Federation (AESF) is recognized by the Olympic Council of Asia as the sole governing body for electronic sports in the Asian continent. It is also in charge of the technical conduct of esports in the 2022 Asian Games. ESFI, which is a recognized member of the Asian body in India and has been sending esports teams since 2007 to the Asian Martial Arts indoors and at the last Asian Games 2018 also where India got the bronze medal in the HearthStone esports title as Esports was a demonstration event.
Esports is set to make its debut as a medal event at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, to be held September 10-25.
“We are very grateful to the IOA President, Dr. Narinder Dhruv Batra ji, for evaluating the ESFI and other non-Olympic sports federations on the various aspects of the organization of the Asian Games, which will take place more later this year. We also discussed and informed Batra ji about the preparations, requirements and future planning of the national esports contingent and the soon-to-be-launched “AESF’s Road to Asian Games” program to select the national esports contingent of our country.The AESF Road to Asian Games 2022 will prove to be a landmark journey and will act as a catalyst not only for the growth of the esports ecosystem in India but also for seeing esports as a form esports in India. At the end of ESFI, we are fully committed to developing the esports ecosystem and creating enough opportunities for Indian esports athletes to participate in the various such events,” has declared saw Mr. Lokesh Suji, Director of Indian Esports Federation and Vice President of Asian Esports Federation (AESF) after the meeting.
The meeting was co-chaired by the Head of Mission, Mr. Bhupender Singh Bajwa and detailed discussions were held regarding training camps and various expenses required.
During the meeting, the IOA stressed the need for a fair and transparent selection process for players and athletes. The deadline for submission of Indian team name entries is 15th April 2022.
ESFI is also recognized by the International Esports Federation (IESF) as well as the Global Esports Federation (GEF), who are responsible for conducting the trial events for the inaugural Commonwealth Esports Championship at the Commonwealth Games. of this year which will be held in Birmingham from July 28 to August 8, 2022.
On behalf of ESFI, Mr. Lokesh Suji, Director, Esports Federation of India and Vice President of Asian Esports Federation (AESF), Mr. Yugal Sharma, Director, Esports Federation of India and Mr. Prabhat Kumar, Treasurer, Esports Federation of India was present at the meeting. The ESFI team also presented the “Road to Asian Games” jersey to AIO President, Dr Narinder Dhruv Batra and Chef de Mission, Mr Bhupender Singh Bajwa.

The 2022 edition of the Asian Games will see medals being awarded in eight Esports categories, which are EA SPORTS FIFA branded football games, an Asian Games version of PUBG Mobile and Arena of Valor, Dota 2, League of Legends, Dream Three Kingdoms 2, Hearthstone and Street Fighter V.
ESFI is once again calling on gamers/players likely to qualify to prepare their passport and get fully vaccinated.
